Mitsubishi Power has announced that it has named William A. "Bill" Newsom, Jr. as President and CEO of Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., effective December 1, 2021. A 28-year energy industry veteran, Newsom has held leadership roles at Mitsubishi Power for nearly 18 years, most recently as Executive Vice President of Next Generation Systems, which includes new turbomachinery and the company's hydrogen value chain development. As President and CEO, Newsom will focus on the company's continued market leadership in new sales and services of power generation and energy storage solutions.
Newsom launched growth initiatives at Mitsubishi Power that now define the company's strategy for providing decarbonization solutions. In recent years, Newsom has led the company's reach of the largest market share in the Americas in heavy-duty gas turbines and the start of development on the world's largest green hydrogen storage project, which is underway in Delta, Utah.

Before joining Mitsubishi Power, Newsom held leadership roles at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation, and Calpine Corporation. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
